Jõulude ja uue aasta kaardid 

Rahvusvaheliste jõulukaartide projekt sai alguse kolme raamatukogu koostööst Unesco Network of Associated Libraries (UNAL) ühenduses. Me tuleme kolmest riigist: Ädu Neemre Eestist, Helena Pekarovičova Slovakkiast ja Primož Krivec Sloveeniast. Me oleme kolme erineva Euroopa kultuuri esindajad. Iga kultuur on seotud enda aja ja ruumiga, kus see loodud on. Sellest olenemata jagame me ühist mõtet, et ainuke asi, mis saab meid tõeliselt rikastada, on meie pingutus muuta maailma paremaks kohaks läbi meie tegude ja vaimsuse.

Pühadekaardid on hinnatud mitte ainult kunstilise väljendusvahendina, vaid nad on olulised inimsuhete ja kultuuridevahelises dialoogis, tähtsustades kultuurilist eneseväljendust ja heasoovlikkust. Kõige eelneva kõrval edastavad laste joonistatud pühadekaardid tegijate isikupära ja soove maailmale. Sellepärast ongi need pühadekaardid nii erilised.

Pühadekaartide saatmise traditsioon on eelkõige jõulude, aastavahetuse ja lihavõtete ajal. Meie tähelepanu on aga eelkõige advendiajal ja vana-aasta üleminekuajal uuele aastale, ajale, kui inimesed soovivad teistele head.
Sloveenia sõnaraamat tõlgib greeting kui hea tahte väljendust pühade ajal. Seetõttu on greeting card defineeritud kui pühadekaart, millega saadetakse ainult häid mõtteid.

Pühadekaardid on heade soovide edastajaks, mõtete ja soovide jaoks, mida me tahame teistele advendiajal öelda. Need soovid on kirja pandud väga isiklikul viisil, hoides meeles, kellele kaart on mõeldud.

Christmas and New Year greeting cards

International Christmas greeting cards project was created as a result of the cooperation of three youth librarians in the network of Associated Unesco Libraries UNAL. We come from three European countries: Ädu Neemre from Estonia, Helena Pekarovičova from Slovakia and Primož Krivec from Slovenia. We are representatives of three different but all European cultures, each one marked by its own space and time in which it was forged. However, we share a single idea that the only thing that can truly enrich us is our effort to make this world a better place with our good deeds and to extend the boundaries of our spirituality.
The greeting cards have been valued not only by their artistic expressions, but also as an important interpersonal and intercultural dialogue, featuring the culture of expression and mannerly behavior. At the same time, we were able to feel the benevolence and the personal touch of the writer while expressing his or her wishes to the recipient of the greeting card. That is why we find greeting cards so special. However, the most genuine of them all was the child’s vision of the world, being so straightforward and when appropriately tutored, almost artistic.

Good wishes are never expressed by our enemies and greeting cards are not usually given at any day of the year, just like that, without a purpose. The custom of sending greeting cards is usually focused on Christmas, New Year and Easter time. Our focus, however, was the time of Advent and the transition of the old year into the new year, the time when people wish each other well, if not the best.
The Slovenian language dictionary defines greetings as an expression of good will during the holiday time. A greeting is therefore defined as a card or a postcard used to convey good wishes.

Greeting cards, therefore, serve as messengers of good intentions, thoughts and wishes we want to convey to each other in this special time of Advent. They are usually written and made in a very personal way, having in mind that special person the card was made for. For this reason, people use different ways to express and convey their thoughts and wishes to their loved ones.
